Mr Joel Stein

Mr Joel Stein is an experienced General and Colorectal Surgeon based in Perth, Western Australia. With extensive knowledge across all aspects of general surgery, Mr Stein specialises in conditions affecting the colon, rectum and anus, as well as abdominal wall hernias and reconstruction.

Mr Stein completed his medical degree at the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg (MBBCh), followed by his internship at Groote Schuur Hospital in Cape Town and a period of service in rural South Africa. He subsequently gained further clinical and surgical experience in the United Kingdom before moving to Australia.

Continuing his postgraduate career across Queensland and New South Wales, Mr Stein relocated to Perth, where he completed his surgical training and attained Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS). He went on to undertake post-fellowship training in Colorectal Surgery at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital (CSSANZ), followed by Consultant appointments at Royal Perth and Fiona Stanley Hospital.

Today, Mr Stein combines his private practice in Midland with his shared role as Head of Colorectal Surgery at Midland Public Hospital. He operates regularly from Midland Private Hospital, where he serves as Head of General Surgery, as well as Bethesda Mount Hospital in Perth.

Alongside his clinical practice, Mr Stein is involved in the education and training of medical students, surgical trainees and surgeons through teaching, assessment and professional development with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons.
