Associate Professor Sumit Raniga is an internationally recognised, award-winning, subspecialist orthopaedic shoulder and elbow surgeon. Director of the Macquarie University Translational Orthopaedic Research Program. Head of Upper Limb Surgery and Therapy at Macquarie University Hospital.
Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) and a subspecialist orthopaedic shoulder and elbow surgeon with three years of dedicated clinical and research fellowships in centres of excellence. Mentored by Professors Matthias Zumstein (Bern, Switzerland), George Athwal (Ontario, Canada), Graham King (Ontario, Canada), and Des Bokor (Sydney, Australia).
Author of numerous peer-reviewed research publications and textbook chapters. The first and only Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons to receive the Charles S. Neer Award for research in shoulder surgery by the American Shoulder and Elbow Society (ASES) in 2016. Recipient of the Shoulder and Elbow Society of Australia's (SESA) North American Travelling Fellowship Award for 2024.
Provides evidence-based management and surgical treatment of simple and complex shoulder and elbow problems. Trained to deliver the highest standard of care with compassion and empathy.
