Dr Steven Craig

Dr Steven Craig is a highly regarded General Surgeon who sub-specialises in Endocrine Surgery and Surgical Oncology. He is dedicated to providing patients in regional Australia with the highest standards of surgical care. Understanding the significant stress and difficulties faced by individuals with a newly diagnosed cancer, Dr Craig endeavours to see all new cancer referrals as promptly as possible. He is committed to developing strong, empathetic relationships with his patients, ensuring they feel supported and well-informed throughout their treatment journey.

Dr Craig completed a comprehensive educational and training pathway to achieve his specialist qualifications. He earned a Bachelor of Science from the University of Wollongong in 2004, followed by a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery with honours from the University of Sydney in 2008. After completing his internship and residency, he obtained a Master of Surgery from the University of Sydney. Dr Craig was awarded a Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) in General Surgery in 2017. To further refine his expertise, he undertook a prestigious fellowship training programme in Endocrine Surgery and Surgical Oncology at the University of Calgary in Canada. He is also a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS).

In addition to his clinical practice, Dr Craig is an Associate Professor of Surgery at the University of Wollongong, where he is actively involved in teaching and research. He has contributed to numerous academic publications and remains dedicated to training the next generation of medical professionals. Dr Craig is a member of several professional organisations, including the American Association of Endocrine Surgeons and the International Association of Endocrine Surgeons, ensuring his clinical practice remains aligned with the latest global advancements in surgical care.
