Dr Stephen Kearney

Dr Stephen Kearney is a highly dedicated and compassionate General Practitioner who brings a unique and diverse background to his medical practice. Raised on a dairy farm in Central Queensland, Dr Kearney developed a strong work ethic and resilience from an early age. To fund his medical studies, he joined the Australian Army, embarking on a distinguished military career. During his service, he deployed on humanitarian and operational missions to Rwanda and Afghanistan, and he even authored a comprehensive training manual for the Special Air Service (SAS).

Dr Kearney later transitioned to civilian practice, choosing to settle and serve the community in the Ningi region. As a General Practitioner, he is passionate about providing comprehensive, patient-centred care, with a particular focus on chronic disease management. He has a strong clinical interest in care planning and non-pharmacotherapy interventions for Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), helping patients manage complex health conditions to improve their overall quality of life.

Dr Kearney is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP) and is deeply committed to the future of general practice in Australia. His outstanding contribution to the profession was recognised when he was awarded the prestigious Queensland General Practitioner of the Year by the RACGP in 2022. In addition to his clinical work, he serves as a Supervisor Liaison Officer (SLO) for the RACGP in the Brisbane North and Sunshine Coast region, where he actively advocates for GP supervisors and plays a key role in shaping high-quality training programmes for the next generation of doctors.
