Dr Sonja Kauffman

Dr Sonja Kauffman is a dedicated and compassionate General Practitioner who is committed to delivering high-quality, patient-centred care. She has gained extensive experience working across a diverse range of healthcare settings, including general practice, Aboriginal health, and ambulatory care. Dr Kauffman is particularly passionate about supporting patients in regional communities, with a strong focus on managing mental health conditions and improving local access to essential medical services.

In her clinical practice, Dr Kauffman has developed key areas of interest in women's health and paediatrics. She provides comprehensive menopause care and family planning advice, and is fully qualified to perform intrauterine device (IUD) insertions, including Mirena, Kyleena, and Copper IUDs. Her dedication to child health is supported by specialised postgraduate training, enabling her to offer reassuring and expert guidance to families. Alongside her clinical work, she is deeply involved in medical education, serving as a Head of Training to support and mentor the next generation of General Practitioners.

Dr Kauffman completed her Bachelor of Medical Science and her medical degree at the University of Sydney. She undertook her early clinical training at major metropolitan and regional hospitals before relocating to regional New South Wales to complete her specialist General Practice training. She holds a Diploma of Child Health and has completed postgraduate training in Family Planning. Dr Kauffman is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP) and continues to contribute actively to medical education and clinical research.
