Dr Sonali Gnanenthiran

Dr Sonali Gnanenthiran is a highly accomplished and dedicated Cardiologist who provides comprehensive cardiovascular care. With a strong commitment to patient-centred medicine, she specialises in general Cardiology, focusing on the prevention, diagnosis, and management of a wide range of heart conditions. Her clinical approach is characterised by a reassuring and professional manner, ensuring that patients receive personalised care tailored to their unique cardiovascular needs.

As an active Clinician-Researcher, Dr Gnanenthiran has a particular interest in cardiovascular disease prevention, high blood pressure (hypertension), high cholesterol, and blood clotting disorders. She is especially passionate about cardiovascular health in ageing populations, dedicating much of her clinical and academic focus to understanding and mitigating cardiovascular risks in older adults. Her extensive research in vascular biology and clinical trials allows her to integrate the latest evidence-based advancements directly into her patient care, offering cutting-edge solutions for managing complex cardiovascular risk factors.

Dr Gnanenthiran graduated with First Class Honours in Medicine from the University of New South Wales. She subsequently completed her specialist training in Cardiology and went on to earn a PhD from the University of Sydney, supported by prestigious research fellowships. She is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and a Fellow of the Cardiac Society of Australia and New Zealand. Additionally, she is an active Member of several professional organisations, including the Australian Hypertension Taskforce Working Group, and has been recognised with numerous national and international awards for her contributions to cardiovascular research.
