Dr Simon Matthews

Dr Simon Matthews is a highly qualified Orthopaedic Surgeon who provides comprehensive care to patients in Wagga Wagga, Australia. With a patient-centred approach, he focuses on restoring mobility and improving quality of life for individuals experiencing musculoskeletal conditions. Dr Matthews has a particular interest in hip, knee, and trauma surgery, delivering tailored treatment plans that address each patient's unique needs.

Dr Matthews completed his medical degree in London, graduating in 1999. He undertook basic surgical training in Essex before entering a formal orthopaedic training rotation in London, where he successfully completed his fellowship examinations. To further refine his expertise, he travelled to Melbourne to complete a twelve-month fellowship in complex joint replacement and pelvic reconstruction, followed by a dedicated trauma fellowship. Upon establishing his practice in Australia, he obtained Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and Fellowship of the Australian Orthopaedic Association. He is also a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England.

Throughout his career, Dr Matthews has held significant leadership roles, including serving as the Director of a regional orthopaedic department. His clinical practice encompasses a wide range of procedures, with a strong focus on primary, complex, and revision hip replacements, knee replacements, and tendon repairs. He is dedicated to utilising evidence-based techniques to ensure optimal surgical outcomes and a smooth recovery process for his patients.
