Dr Samuel Flatman

Dr Samuel Flatman is an accomplished Ear, Nose and Throat Surgeon and Otolaryngologist who provides comprehensive care for both adult and paediatric patients. He is dedicated to delivering evidence-based, personalised treatment, with a strong emphasis on multidisciplinary collaboration and shared decision-making. Dr Flatman believes in exploring medical treatment options thoroughly alongside surgical interventions to ensure the best possible outcomes for his patients.

Dr Flatman completed his medical training at the University of Melbourne in 2006, subsequently specialising in Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery. He is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. To further his expertise, he undertook advanced sub-specialist fellowship training in North America, focusing on head and neck surgical oncology, as well as thyroid and parathyroid surgery. Additionally, he holds formal accreditation in head and neck ultrasound from the American College of Surgeons and the American Head and Neck Society, and has completed specialised training in Trans-Oral Robotic Surgery in the United States.

His clinical practice encompasses a broad range of conditions, with a particular interest in thyroid and parathyroid disorders, head and neck cancers, and sleep-related breathing disorders. Dr Flatman is one of the few surgeons who performs his own point-of-care ultrasounds and ultrasound-guided fine-needle biopsies to streamline the diagnosis of neck lumps and thyroid nodules. He utilises advanced, minimally invasive surgical techniques, including robotic surgery, laser surgery, and coblation, to treat conditions such as snoring, obstructive sleep apnoea, and tonsil or throat issues. He also maintains a busy paediatric practice, treating children with common ear, nose, and throat concerns.
