Mr Matthew Campbell

Mr. Matthew Campbell is an ENT Head and Neck Surgeon who graduated from the University of Melbourne Medical School in 1984. He completed his Fellowship in ENT Head and Neck Surgery in 1995, receiving the Jean Littlejohn Medal for Research in 1994 and the Hugh Noel Puckle Prize in 1996. Following his fellowship, he undertook additional training in middle ear surgery in Würzburg, Germany; vocal disorders in Lyon, France; and Head and Neck Surgery in Dublin, Ireland, before returning to Melbourne.

He was appointed Director of the ENT Head and Neck Surgical Unit at Austin Health in 2000 and additionally at the Northern Hospital in 2005. His clinical practice includes sinus surgery, rhinoplasty, middle ear surgery, paediatric ENT, and head and neck surgery.

Mr. Campbell is actively involved in research on obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA) as part of an international multicentre study conducted in collaboration with the Respiratory Medicine Unit and the Institute of Breathing and Sleep at Austin Hospital. He serves as the implanting surgeon for the Melbourne arm of the study, which has performed more device implantations than any other centre worldwide. 

In addition to these advanced interventions, Mr. Campbell provides assessment and treatment for snoring and OSA, including the use of mandibular advancement splints (MAS) and CPAP (continuous positive airway pressure) therapy. His approach emphasizes thorough assessment of airway patency and appropriate follow-up with sleep studies when indicated.
