Dr. Yi Chen Zhao

Dr Yi Chen Zhao is a Consultant Ear Nose & Throat Surgeon with many years of experience in the treatment and management of both adult and paediatric ENT conditions including tonsilitis, anterior skull base conditions, adenoids, nasal allergies and paranasal sinus conditions. He sees private patients at the ENT Specialists Group, Hawthorn.

Dr Zhao earned his first-class medical bachelor's degree at Monash University, after which he undertook his basic surgical training and completed his PhD through the University of Melbourne, where he centred his research on the stimulation in ENT education. He then went on to undertake his specialist ENT and Head & Neck training at various major hospitals in Victoria. Dr Zhao was then awarded fellowship training under the renowned rhinologist, Professor PJ Wormald, during which he gained knowledge and expertise on the management of nose disease and paranasal sinus issues. Dr Zhao also had the opportunity to train at the Wexner Cancer Centre in Ohio, USA, under professor Ricardo Carrau to gain further expertise in endoscopic skull base surgery training.

Upon completion of his training and memberships, Dr Zhao was appointed Consultant at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital, where he has since become the Lead for rhinology services. He also works alongside neurosurgeons as part of the multidisciplinary anterior skull base team at the Royal Melbourne.
