Dr Edwards completed his medical degree at the University of Adelaide, obtaining his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery. He subsequently undertook his Physician training at a major teaching hospital, followed by advanced training in Gastroenterology at a tertiary medical centre. To further refine his expertise, he completed a specialised fellowship in the United Kingdom, focusing on the clinical management of inflammatory bowel disease. Dr Edwards qualified as a Consultant Gastroenterologist and was admitted as a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in 2006.
