Dr Rushmia Karim is a highly accomplished and dedicated Consultant Ophthalmologist and Ophthalmic Surgeon who specialises in providing comprehensive eye care for both adult and paediatric patients. With a patient-centred approach, Dr Karim is committed to delivering bespoke treatments tailored to the unique visual demands and lifestyles of her patients. Her clinical expertise spans a wide range of ophthalmic conditions, with a particular focus on advanced cataract surgery, refractive lens exchange, and complex ocular motility disorders.

As a skilled surgeon, Dr Karim performs both laser-assisted and manual cataract surgeries, ensuring optimal outcomes through evidence-based techniques. She has a deep interest in neuro-ophthalmology and is highly proficient in performing complex strabismus (squint) surgeries for both adults and children. In addition to these specialised procedures, she offers general ophthalmic surgical interventions, including pterygium removal and various eyelid procedures such as blepharoplasty, chalazion removal, and ectropion and entropion corrections. Dr Karim holds a Master of Medicine in Clinical Epidemiology with Honours, a Master of Medicine in Ophthalmic Science, and a Postgraduate Certificate in Genomics. She is a dual Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists and the Royal College of Ophthalmologists, United Kingdom. Additionally, she is an active member of several international organisations, including the British & Irish Paediatric Ophthalmology & Strabismus Association, the European Society of Cataract & Refractive Surgeons, the International Strabismological Association, and the World Society of Paediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus.
