Dr Peter Jefferies

Dr Peter Jefferies is a highly qualified and dedicated Ophthalmologist who provides comprehensive adult eye care. Dr Jefferies obtained his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery from the University of Auckland, New Zealand, in 1986. He subsequently completed advanced training in his field, earning a Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists in 1996. To further refine his expertise, he undertook a specialised Vitreo-retinal fellowship in Bristol, England, from 1993 to 1994. Following this, he served as a Consultant Ophthalmologist at a prominent medical centre in Adelaide from 1995 to 1998, before relocating to the Sunshine Coast to continue his clinical practice.

As an experienced Ophthalmologist, Dr Jefferies specialises in a broad range of adult eye conditions, with a particular subspecialty expertise in retinal diseases. His clinical interests include the management of macular degeneration, diabetic eye disease, and retinal vein occlusion. He also provides expert consultations for cataracts and glaucoma. Notably, Dr Jefferies was a pioneer in his local region for utilising intravitreal injections to treat complex retinal conditions, offering patients advanced and effective therapeutic options to preserve their sight.
