Dr Peter Beckingsale

Dr Peter Beckingsale is a highly accomplished Australian-based Ophthalmologist who specialises in anterior segment eye surgery. With a clinical focus on corneal, cataract, and refractive surgery, he is dedicated to utilising the latest techniques and advanced technologies to optimise visual outcomes for his patients. Dr Beckingsale provides comprehensive care for a wide range of eye conditions, offering tailored treatment plans that address each patient's unique visual requirements and expectations.

Dr Beckingsale graduated from the University of Queensland Medical School in 1996, subsequently completing his residency and specialised ophthalmology training in Brisbane. He was awarded the prestigious Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO) and Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists (RANZCO)/Allergan scholarships. To further refine his expertise, he travelled to the United Kingdom to complete advanced fellowship training in corneal, anterior segment, and refractive surgery. Dr Beckingsale is a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists and a Fellow of the World College of Refractive Surgeons. He also serves as the Chair of the Australian and New Zealand Corneal Society.

Throughout his career, Dr Beckingsale has established himself as a leading Consultant in his field, performing numerous complex lens, cataract, and laser vision correction procedures. His surgical expertise encompasses advanced corneal transplantation techniques, including Descemet Membrane Endothelial Keratoplasty (DMEK) and Descemet's Stripping Automated Endothelial Keratoplasty (DSAEK), as well as the insertion of glaucoma drainage stents. In addition to his clinical practice, he is actively involved in medical education, serving as a Senior Lecturer and Guest Lecturer for postgraduate ophthalmic programmes. He has also served as a Medical Director for ocular tissue banking and has contributed significantly to the field through peer-reviewed research and presentations at national and international conferences.
