Dr. Nicholas Jones

Associate Professor Nicholas (Nick) Jones is a skilled general cardiologist and cardiac imaging specialist who currently serves as the Director of General Medicine at Austin Health and as a cardiac imaging cardiologist  at Austin Health and Peter MaCallum Cancer Centre.

A/Prof Jones attended medical school at Flinders University in Adelaide, where he graduated with Distinction. Following this, he returned to Melbourne, where he completed his specialist training at various healthcare institutions, including Austin Health, Bendigo Health, and Peninsula Health.

After achieving Fellowship status with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians, A/Prof Jones pursued additional sub-specialty training at St Vincent's Hospital, with a particular focus on cardiac imaging.

One of his primary areas of interest lies in the management of cardiac disease in the elderly, a field known as cardio-geriatrics. He is especially dedicated to caring for elderly patients with complex medical needs. In general cardiology, he focuses on heart failure, valvular and structural heart disease, and the management of atherosclerotic disease.

A/Prof Jones is a passionate educator, holding a graduate certificate in clinical education. He serves as the Director of Physician Education at Austin Health, contributing to the training and development of medical professionals. Additionally, he plays a role on the Board of Grampians Health, where he is able to use his expertise in clinical governance and population health.

A/Prof Jones places great importance on communication with patients as well as with a patient's managing doctors, particularly general practitioners (GPs). He welcomes contact to facilitate discussions about patient care.
