Dr Nicholas Freezer

Dr Nicholas Freezer is a highly respected Paediatrician and Paediatric Respiratory and Sleep Physician who is dedicated to diagnosing and managing complex breathing and sleep disorders in children. With a compassionate and patient-centred approach, he provides expert care to infants, children, and adolescents experiencing a wide range of respiratory conditions. His clinical practice focuses on delivering reassuring, evidence-based care to support the health and well-being of young patients and their families.

Dr Freezer completed his medical education at the University of Tasmania, graduating with a Bachelor of Medical Science and a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery in 1981. He subsequently undertook specialist training in paediatric respiratory medicine at a major children's hospital in Melbourne. He holds a Doctor of Medicine and is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians. In addition to his clinical work, he serves as a Professor of Paediatrics and has held prominent leadership roles in paediatric healthcare and medical research.

His clinical and research interests encompass asthma, cystic fibrosis, croup, bronchiectasis, and various sleep disorders, including sleep apnoea. Notably, his pioneering research has helped shape international guidelines on the safe use of inhaled corticosteroids in asthmatic children and the efficacy of steroid treatments for croup. He remains actively involved in clinical research and academic teaching, ensuring his patients benefit from the latest advancements in paediatric respiratory care.
