Dr Milan Piya

Dr Milan Piya is a highly qualified Consultant Endocrinologist and Clinical Academic Endocrinologist based in Campbelltown, Australia. He provides comprehensive, patient-centred care for individuals experiencing a wide range of endocrine and metabolic conditions. With a strong clinical focus on diabetes management, including Type 1, Type 2, and gestational diabetes, Dr Piya is dedicated to helping patients navigate complex health journeys. His clinical expertise also extends to thyroid disorders, adrenal and pituitary conditions, and metabolic bone diseases, ensuring that each patient receives a personalised and holistic treatment plan.

In addition to general endocrinology, Dr Piya has a deep clinical and research interest in severe obesity and its associated physical and mental health co-morbidities. He is actively involved in multidisciplinary metabolic rehabilitation and bariatric programmes, offering expert pre- and post-operative care for patients undergoing bariatric surgery. Dr Piya began his medical journey in Nepal, where he attained his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from a medical school in 2001. He subsequently relocated to the United Kingdom, completing his basic physician training and obtaining his Membership of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP) in 2005. He went on to complete a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in obesity and metabolism at a British university in 2013, followed by the completion of his specialist training in Diabetes, Endocrinology, and General Medicine in 2015. After moving to Australia, he was admitted as a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) in 2018. Dr Piya is also a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (Edinburgh) and holds active memberships with the Australian Diabetes Society, the Australian and New Zealand Obesity Society, and the National Association of Clinical Obesity Services.
