Dr Michael Wong

Dr Michael Wong is a highly accomplished Neurosurgeon and Spinal Surgeon who provides comprehensive care for patients experiencing a wide range of cranial, spinal, and peripheral nerve conditions. With a patient-centred approach, Dr Wong is dedicated to delivering personalised treatment plans that combine advanced surgical techniques with compassionate care. He has a particular clinical interest in complex and Minimally Invasive Spinal Surgery, utilising state-of-the-art procedures to achieve optimal outcomes and support his patients' recovery and long-term well-being.

Dr Wong began his medical journey by completing his undergraduate medical training, during which he also undertook dedicated research in traumatic brain injury to graduate with a Bachelor of Medical Science with Honours. He went on to complete his specialist training in Neurosurgery and was awarded a Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. Committed to academic excellence, he also earned a Doctor of Philosophy for his doctoral research into novel therapies for malignant brain tumours, a project that received the prestigious Peter Leech Prize from the Neurosurgical Society of Australasia. To further refine his expertise, Dr Wong completed post-fellowship training in brain tumour surgery in Japan, followed by advanced training in complex spinal surgery across Germany, France, and Austria.

In addition to his clinical practice, Dr Wong is deeply involved in medical education and research. He serves as an Examiner for the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and holds an academic appointment as an Honorary Senior Fellow at a prominent Australian university, where he regularly teaches undergraduate medical students and supervises postgraduate trainees. He is also an active member of the Neurosurgical Society of Australasia and contributes to the wider scientific community as a reviewer for international medical journals.
