Dr Michael James Koppman

Dr Michael James Koppman is a compassionate and highly accomplished General Practitioner who is dedicated to delivering high-quality, patient-centred care. With a diverse professional background that bridges clinical medicine, public health, and scientific research, he brings a comprehensive and reassuring approach to family medicine. Dr Koppman is committed to fostering strong Doctor-patient relationships, ensuring that every individual receives personalised and supportive medical attention.

Dr Koppman began his academic journey by earning a Bachelor of Science. He then pursued his medical education at the Australian National University Medical School, graduating with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery in 2012. He completed his subsequent internship and residency training at major hospitals in the Australian Capital Territory. Committed to continuous professional development, he undertook a Master of Public Health and Tropical Medicine through James Cook University, commencing in 2017. Dr Koppman is also recognised as a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners.

Before qualifying as a Doctor, Dr Koppman spent a significant period working in the science-policy sector for the Australian Government, where he focused on entomology and environmental health initiatives, such as dengue fever prevention. His medical career has also included valuable international experience, having served as a Medical Officer for an embassy health unit in Timor-Leste, where he managed primary care services. Additionally, he has contributed his skills to a national hospital and worked as a locum Doctor for an embassy clinic. His clinical interests are broad, with a particular focus on general medicine, child and family health, men's health, and public health.
