Dr Michael Hurrell

Dr Michael Hurrell is a highly qualified and dedicated Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon, Head and Neck Surgeon, and Reconstructive Surgeon who provides comprehensive care for conditions affecting the mouth, jaws, face, and neck. With dual qualifications in both dentistry and medicine, Dr Hurrell brings a unique and extensive depth of knowledge to his clinical practice. He is committed to delivering technical excellence, thoughtful diagnoses, and compassionate, patient-centred care, ensuring that each individual receives a tailored treatment plan designed to achieve the best possible outcomes.

Dr Hurrell completed his foundational studies at the University of Queensland, where he earned a Bachelor of Dentistry with Honours in 2008, followed by a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery in 2014. Demonstrating a strong commitment to academic research, he also obtained a Doctor of Philosophy in Facial Trauma from the same institution in 2019. Dr Hurrell completed his specialist training in Western Australia and was awarded a Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in 2021. He further advanced his expertise by completing a highly specialised head and neck cancer and microvascular reconstruction fellowship at a leading cancer centre in Sydney. He is an active member of several professional organisations, including the Australian and New Zealand Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons, the Australian Medical Association, and the Australian Dental Association.

In his clinical practice, Dr Hurrell focuses on a broad range of surgical procedures, from routine dental extractions and complex dental implantology to corrective jaw surgery and the management of severe facial trauma. He also has a keen interest in treating salivary gland disease, temporomandibular joint dysfunction, and head and neck oncology, including reconstructive surgery. Alongside his clinical work, Dr Hurrell holds an academic appointment as an Associate Professor, contributing significantly to surgical education and research. He has published numerous peer-reviewed articles in international journals, reflecting his dedication to advancing evidence-based patient care and training the next generation of Surgeons and Specialists.
