Dr Martin Batstone

Associate Professor Martin Batstone is a highly accomplished Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon who provides comprehensive care for patients requiring complex surgical interventions of the mouth, jaws, face, and neck. With a reassuring and patient-centred approach, he specialises in the full scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery. His clinical focus particularly highlights the management of head and neck malignancies, salivary gland surgery, and advanced reconstructive procedures. He is dedicated to achieving optimal functional and aesthetic outcomes, helping patients navigate their treatment journeys with confidence and clarity.

Dr Batstone completed his medical and dental degrees at the University of Queensland, qualifying in medicine in 1996 and dentistry in 2002. Following his graduation from the Queensland Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery training programme, he pursued advanced fellowship training in head and neck cancer surgery in the United Kingdom, earning a Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of England. He also holds a Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, which he obtained in 2004.

In addition to his clinical practice, Dr Batstone is deeply committed to the advancement of his specialty through leadership, education, and research. He has served as the President of the Australian and New Zealand Head and Neck Cancer Society and actively contributes to the supervision and training of future surgeons as a member of regional surgical committees. His involvement in cutting-edge research, particularly in the fields of biofabrication and regenerative medicine for craniofacial reconstruction, ensures that his patients benefit from the latest evidence-based techniques and innovative clinical pathways.
