Dr Lawson graduated with her Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from the University of Queensland in 1998. Following her graduation, she completed her specialist General Practice training in North Queensland, obtaining Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP). Her professional journey includes valuable experience working within university health services before transitioning to private family practice.
