Dr Surendar Advani, MBBS, FRACGP

General Practitioner | Special interests in skin cancer medicine and ADHD

Dr Surendar Advani is an experienced General Practitioner who provides comprehensive, patient-centred care to people at every stage of life. He aims to create a welcoming environment where patients feel listened to, understand their options and can take an active role in decisions about their health.

Dr Advani graduated from Chandka Medical College in Larkana, Pakistan, in 2004. His medical journey has included USMLE examinations and ECFMG certification, assessment through the Australian Medical Council, clinical experience in Oman, and work across Australia. He completed his Australian general practice training in Bundaberg and has practised in Bundaberg, on the Sunshine Coast and in Victoria. He holds Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP).

Clinical interests

Dr Advani has particular interests in:

• Skin cancer medicine: skin checks, assessment of suspicious lesions, dermoscopy and appropriate management or referral. He has completed skin cancer training through HealthCert and dermoscopy training with the Skin Cancer College Australasia.
• ADHD: assessment and ongoing care for people with ADHD, including treatment discussions, medication monitoring and practical support tailored to each person’s needs. He has undertaken ADHD training through UKAAN.
• Women’s health and mental health
• Chronic disease management and preventive health
• Respiratory conditions, including asthma and COPD
• Musculoskeletal concerns and workers’ compensation care

Dr Advani speaks Urdu and Hindi and values communicating clearly with people from diverse backgrounds. Outside work, he enjoys mountain hiking, spending time with his family, and teaching medical students and GP registrars.
