Dr Malini Govindan

Dr Malini Govindan is a highly qualified Consultant Cardiologist who provides comprehensive, patient-centred care. She specialises in diagnosing and managing a wide range of cardiovascular conditions, with a particular focus on cardiac arrhythmias and electrophysiology. Dr Govindan is dedicated to delivering reassuring and evidence-based treatment, ensuring that each patient receives a personalised management plan tailored to their unique cardiovascular needs.

Dr Govindan graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine from the University of Newcastle in 2000. Following her initial medical training, she completed advanced training in cardiology. Her passion for cardiac electrophysiology led her to undertake a clinical and research fellowship in the United Kingdom, where she was awarded a prestigious British Heart Foundation Research Fellowship. She subsequently completed her PhD at the University of London, focusing on atrial fibrillation. Dr Govindan is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) and a Fellow of the Cardiac Society of Australia and New Zealand (FCSANZ). She is also a member of the European Heart Rhythm Association.

In her clinical practice, Dr Govindan manages complex cardiac issues, including inherited and congenital cardiac conditions, pregnancy-related heart conditions, and valvular heart disease. Her expertise extends to the management of resistant hypertension, pulmonary hypertension, and the implementation of cardiac pacemakers and defibrillators. Alongside her clinical work, she remains actively involved in cardiovascular research, regularly publishing in peer-reviewed medical journals and contributing to the education of future medical professionals.
