Dr Luke Chen works as a neurologist and neuro-otologist at Neurology Network Melbourne. He also consults at the Alfred Hospital where he leads the balance disorders clinic and the otoneurology diagnostic service. Dr Chen's specialist areas are hearing disorders, multiple sclerosis, neuroimmunological disorders, neuro-ophthalmological disorders, and balance disorders including vestibular neuritis, Meniere's disease, vestibular schwannomas, and cerebellar diseases.
Dr Chen achieved his MBBS from the University of Melbourne in 2003 before completing his PhD on quantitative vestibular abnormalities in neurological disorders at the University of Sydney. Following this, he became a fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians, Australia and has since received a number of awards for his work including the Young Scientist Award at the 29th Bárány Society Meeting, Korea.
Dr Chen is actively involved in research (https://loop.frontiersin.org/people/421801/overview) where he is currently looking into the diagnosis of acute vertigo, central vestibular disorder physiology, and the use of eye movement recordings to determine brain function in disorders including cerebellar disease, multiple sclerosis, and neurodegenerative disorders. Dr Chen is on the editorial board of Frontiers in Neurology and Clinical Neurophysiology, and reviews papers for a number of international journals.
