Dr Laura Pejnovic

Dr Laura Pejnovic is a compassionate and dedicated Psychiatrist who specialises in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Perinatal and Infant Psychiatry, and General Psychiatry. Practising in Melbourne, she provides comprehensive mental health care for infants, children, adolescents, young adults, and families, as well as individuals in the perinatal period. Dr Pejnovic is committed to delivering holistic, collaborative, and person-centred care, focusing on building enduring, trusting therapeutic relationships to support patients experiencing emotional distress. Her clinical approach is deeply rooted in understanding each individual within the context of their family and broader environment.

With a broad range of clinical interests, Dr Pejnovic supports patients navigating anxiety, depression, complex trauma, grief, and challenges related to the development of a person's sense of self. She also has a strong interest in neurodiversity, including Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and Autism Spectrum Disorder. To address these diverse needs, she utilises evidence-based treatments and is highly trained in psychotherapy, family therapy, parent-child psychotherapy, and medication management. Dr Pejnovic completed her medical education at The University of Melbourne, graduating with a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery, and a Bachelor of Medical Science in 2013. She furthered her academic qualifications with a Master of Psychiatry from The University of Melbourne and holds a Diploma in Child Health. After completing her specialist training within public mental health settings in Victoria, she was appointed as a Chief Registrar of a major mental health programme. Dr Pejnovic is a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists and holds a Certificate of Advanced Training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. She is also a member of the Victorian Faculty of Child and Adolescent Psychiatrists.
