Dr Lahiru Amarasena

Dr Lahiru Amarasena is a highly dedicated Paediatrician who specialises in providing comprehensive medical care for infants, children, and adolescents. With a reassuring and patient-centred approach, she is committed to supporting families and ensuring that young patients receive the highest standard of care. Dr Amarasena manages a wide range of general paediatric conditions, focusing on both physical health and developmental well-being.

Her clinical interests span a broad spectrum of paediatric medicine, with a particular focus on behavioural and developmental concerns. Dr Amarasena is highly experienced in assessing and managing conditions such as attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), autism spectrum disorders, developmental delays, and emotional regulation difficulties. Additionally, she provides expert care for common childhood illnesses, including moderate to severe asthma, allergies, food intolerances, constipation, nocturnal enuresis, and various respiratory, gastrointestinal, and neurological diseases. She is also deeply passionate about community child health and has been actively involved in specialised programmes designed to support vulnerable children and enhance paediatric care in regional areas.

Dr Amarasena completed her medical training, earning a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS). Committed to advancing her knowledge in public health and clinical research, she also obtained a Master of International Public Health (MIPH) and is currently a PhD Student at the University of New South Wales (UNSW) School of Women's and Children's Health, focusing on the health outcomes of vulnerable young populations. She is a recognised Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP), reflecting her advanced training and expertise in paediatric medicine.
