Mr. Krishna Bhagwat is an experienced cardiothoracic surgeon for 24 years. Graduating from the University of Mumbai in 1996, he went on to pursue advanced training and qualifications in surgery. He obtained his Master of General Surgery in 2000 from Mumbai and later completed his full qualification in Cardio-Vascular & thoracic Surgery at the University of Pune, India in 2003.
With years of experience as a Consultant in Cardiothoracic Surgery in India, Mr. Bhagwat further honed his skills through training in Australia, where he achieved Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of Surgeons in 2016. During his training, he undertook rotations at prestigious institutions such as the Royal Melbourne Hospital (Adult), Royal Children’s Hospital (Pediatric), Alfred Hospital (Heart & Lung Transplant Surgery), and Monash Hospital. He also provided his specialised services at Dunedin Hospital in New Zealand, Barwon Health in Geelong, and Royal Hobart Hospital later.
Currently, Mr. Bhagwat serves as a Senior consultant Cardiothoracic Surgeon at Northern Health and St Vincent’s Hospital in Melbourne. His expertise covers various aspects of cardiac surgery, including general cardiac surgery, total arterial revascularization, and minimally-invasive valve repair and valve replacement surgery. He is particularly passionate about minimal invasive thoracic and cardiac surgery.
Committed to providing personalised care to his patients, Mr. Bhagwat prioritises their comfort and early recovery. He has also contributed significantly to the research field and has multiple journal publications in heart and lung surgery. Additionally, he actively participates in surgical education and training as an appointed member of the Academy of Surgical Educators with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. Mr. Bhagwat also serves as a college-appointed Supervisor of SET (Surgical Education and Training) in Cardiothoracic Surgery.
