Dr Katie Heathershaw is a Consultant Developmental & Behavioural Paediatrician with many years of experience in the treatment and management of child sleep disorders, general paediatric medicine, child behaviour problems and developmental disorders. She sees private patients at Melbourne Children's Clinic.
Dr Heathershaw earned her primary medical qualification at the University of Melbourne, after which she gained experience at the Royal Melbourne Hospital. She then gained a fellowship in paediatrics with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in 1998 and later, her Doctor of Medicine qualification in 2004. Dr Heathersaw also gained expertise and knowledge during her time working within the Centre for Community Child Health, where she also found her passion for paediatrics and began her specialist training in Developmental and Behavioural Paediatrics.
Upon completion of her training, Dr Heathershaw founded the Melbourne Children's Clinic in 2001, a multidisciplinary paediatric clinic that includes a variety of healthcare professionals to help paediatric patients and their families manage behavioural and developmental conditions. Dr Heathershaw centres her practice around multidisciplinary input and evidence-based practice, tailored to the individual needs of her patients. She also takes the time to talk to the parents of her patients, and also the patients themselves, to ensure that their needs and worries are heard and correctly managed.
