Dr Josephine Richards

Dr Josephine Richards is a highly qualified and dedicated Consultant Ophthalmologist who provides comprehensive eye care for adult patients. With a reassuring and patient-centred approach, she specialises in general ophthalmology, with a particular focus on complex cataract surgery and the medical, surgical, and laser management of glaucoma. Dr Richards is also highly regarded for her expertise in managing ocular inflammatory disorders, uveitis, and corneal infections, ensuring that her patients receive precise and compassionate care for both common and complex eye conditions.

Dr Richards completed her medical training with honours, earning her Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) from the University of Cape Town. She went on to obtain a Master of Medicine (MMed) with distinction from the same institution. Demonstrating academic and clinical excellence, she was awarded a gold medal during her specialist training and became a Fellow of the College of Ophthalmologists of South Africa. To further her expertise, she completed advanced fellowship training in uveitis, ocular immunology, and anterior segment surgery.
