Dr Jie Xu

Dr Jie Xu is a highly dedicated Specialist Physician in Pain Medicine who is committed to helping patients manage complex and persistent pain. With a compassionate, patient-centred approach, he focuses on restoring function and improving quality of life for individuals experiencing long-term discomfort. Dr Xu works collaboratively with allied health professionals and other medical specialists to develop comprehensive, multidisciplinary treatment strategies tailored to each patient's unique goals and lifestyle. He has a particular interest in non-opioid pain management and minimally invasive procedures.

Dr Xu completed his undergraduate medical training at Monash University in Melbourne, graduating with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery in 2011. He gained broad clinical experience working in several major tertiary hospitals in Western Australia before undertaking advanced specialist training in Pain Medicine. Dr Xu holds dual professional fellowships, being a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP) and a Fellow of the Faculty of Pain Medicine of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (FFPMANZCA). To further refine his expertise, he also completed an Interventional Pain Fellowship, focusing on advanced procedural techniques.

In his clinical practice, Dr Xu manages a wide range of conditions, including neck and back pain, joint pain, shoulder and knee pain, headaches, migraines, and complex regional pain syndrome. Having personally experienced chronic back pain, he possesses a deep, empathetic understanding of the physical and emotional challenges that persistent pain presents. This personal insight strongly motivates his practice, ensuring that every patient receives empathetic, evidence-based care. His clinical repertoire includes a variety of interventional pain procedures, such as rhizotomy, nerve blocks, intra-articular steroid injections, platelet-rich plasma therapy, and therapeutic Botox administrations.
