Dr Symon McCallum

Dr Symon McCallum is a highly experienced Pain Specialist and Anaesthetist at Precision Health, with a wealth of experience in helping patients manage chronic pain. He completed his medical degree at the University of Manchester, UK in 2001 before moving to Australia. After relocating, Dr McCallum completed his specialist anaesthetic training at the esteemed Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital, honing his skills in anaesthesia and pain management. He later completed a Fellowship at The Professor Tess Cramond Multidisciplinary Pain Centre and became a Fellow of the Faculty of Pain Medicine, Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists.

Throughout his career, Dr McCallum has been associated with reputable institutions like the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital Palliative Care Department and the Princess Alexandra Hospital's Department of Persistent Pain. 

As a dedicated Pain Specialist, his main areas of expertise lie in optimising the benefits of medications for patients with chronic pain. By thoroughly assessing each patient, he develops tailored and effective pain management plans to enhance their level of function and reduce disability. Dr McCallum strongly believes in working closely with patients and their General Practitioners to ensure that the complex needs of individuals with chronic pain are met. His interests encompass various aspects of pain management, including interventional techniques for spinal pain and headaches, pharmacological management of neuropathic pain, and overseeing multidisciplinary pain rehabilitation programs. He also emphasises safe and effective analgesic prescribing, particularly concerning opioids.

To expand access to his specialised care, Dr McCallum consults widely across Victoria, with locations in Kew, Box Hill, Mulgrave, Werribee, Sunshine, and Bendigo.
