Dr James Van Gelder is a highly qualified Specialist Neurosurgeon and Spine Surgeon who provides comprehensive care for patients with complex brain, spine, and peripheral nerve conditions. Dr Van Gelder completed his medical training at the University of Melbourne, graduating with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery in 1984, and later earned a Doctorate of Medicine from the same institution in 1996. Committed to academic excellence, he also obtained a Graduate Diploma of Clinical Epidemiology in 1995 and a Master of Medical Statistics in 1997 from the University of Newcastle. He was admitted as a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 1997 and subsequently completed advanced fellowship training in the United States from 1998 to 1999. He is an active member of the professional medical community and holds a position as a Conjoint Associate Professor, contributing significantly to research and the training of future surgeons.
