Dr James Panetta

Dr James Panetta is a highly dedicated Gastroenterologist who provides comprehensive care for patients experiencing a wide range of digestive and hepatic conditions. With a patient-centred approach, he focuses on delivering thorough assessments and evidence-based treatments to manage both common and complex gastrointestinal disorders. Dr Panetta is committed to ensuring his patients receive reassuring, high-quality care tailored to their individual health needs.

Dr Panetta completed his medical training at the University of Sydney, graduating with a Bachelor of Medical Science with Honours and a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery in 2006. He undertook his basic physician training at a major metropolitan hospital, followed by advanced training in Gastroenterology across several prominent medical centres. In 2013, he became a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians. Additionally, he is formally accredited for gastroscopy and colonoscopy by the Conjoint Committee for the Recognition of Training in Gastrointestinal Endoscopy.

In his clinical practice, Dr Panetta maintains a strong interest in bowel cancer screening and the management of complex gastrointestinal and liver conditions. His expertise encompasses the diagnosis and treatment of fatty liver disease, as well as chronic viral hepatitis, including Hepatitis B and C. Through his work in both public and private healthcare settings, he collaborates closely with multidisciplinary teams to co-ordinate comprehensive care pathways, particularly for patients requiring complex therapeutic interventions or cancer surveillance.
