Dr Ingrid Bucens

Dr Ingrid Bucens is a highly dedicated General Paediatrician who provides comprehensive medical care for newborns, infants, and children. With a career spanning clinical paediatrics and public health, she is committed to supporting the health and well-being of mothers and their children. Dr Bucens offers expert newborn services and specialist private paediatric care, with a particular clinical interest in supporting mothers and babies to achieve successful breastfeeding. Her approach is holistic, reassuring, and focused on delivering evidence-based care to families.

Throughout her career, Dr Bucens has developed a deep passion for global child health and Indigenous health. She has worked extensively as a Consultant Paediatrician in various regional and metropolitan hospitals across Australia, including the Northern Territory and Queensland. Her dedication to maternal and child health extends internationally, where she has contributed to public health initiatives and clinical care in East Timor. She also remains active in operational research, collaborating with leading health research institutes to improve health outcomes for vulnerable populations.

Dr Bucens completed her medical degree at the University of Western Australia, graduating in 1987. She undertook her specialist paediatric training at a major children's hospital in Melbourne and was admitted as a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in 1997. Committed to broadening her expertise in community and global health, she later obtained a Masters of Public Health, specialising in international health, from Monash University in 2005. She is an active member of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians.
