Dr Soyer is an academic dermatologist. They are internationally recognised in the field of dermatology. Their areas of expertise include clinical dermatology, dermatological oncology, dermatopathology and dermatologic imaging.

Dr Soyer is a pioneer and world leader in the field of dermatoscopy of pigmented skin lesions, a non-invasive diagnostic method. They have led the development of the morphologic classification system currently used worldwide. One of their research focuses is to expand the concept and applications of teledermatology and teledermoscopy.
