Dr Geoffrey Coughlin

Dr Geoffrey Coughlin is a highly accomplished Urologist who specialises in robotic surgery and the management of prostate disease. With a patient-centred approach, he is dedicated to providing individualised care utilising the latest diagnostic investigations and advanced treatments. His clinical focus encompasses the active surveillance of prostate cancer, abnormal prostate-specific antigen (PSA) levels, and benign prostatic hyperplasia. He is committed to delivering reassuring, high-quality care to help patients navigate their urological health with confidence.

Throughout his career, Dr Coughlin has developed extensive expertise in minimally invasive surgical techniques. He completed advanced fellowship training in laparoscopic surgery in London, followed by comprehensive fellowship training in robotic prostatectomy in the United States under world-renowned guidance. As a pioneer in his field, he has contributed significantly to the development of robotic surgery programmes, co-authoring the first Australian series of robotic partial nephrectomy and presenting the first Australian series of robotic radical cystectomy.

Dr Coughlin completed his medical degree at the University of Queensland in 1998. He undertook specialist training in Urology in Queensland and is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, qualifying in 2007. He is a Charter Member of the Society of Robotic Surgery, recognising him as a leading figure in robotic urological procedures. Additionally, he has held academic appointments, including serving as an Assistant Professor in Urology and a Senior Lecturer, and continues to contribute to the medical community through peer-reviewed publications and editorial roles.
