Dr Gareth Owen

Dr Gareth Owen is a highly qualified General Surgeon and Colorectal Surgeon who provides comprehensive, patient-centred care. With a strong focus on minimally invasive techniques, Dr Owen specialises in the management of a wide range of colorectal and general surgical conditions. He is dedicated to delivering optimal patient outcomes through a compassionate and multidisciplinary approach, ensuring that each individual receives a tailored treatment plan suited to their specific needs.

His clinical practice encompasses the investigation and treatment of bowel and abdominal conditions. Dr Owen has a particular interest in colorectal cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, diverticulitis, and rectal prolapse. He is highly skilled in performing colonoscopies, laparoscopic colorectal and hernia surgeries, and advanced robotic surgery using the da Vinci system. Additionally, he offers specialised treatments for haemorrhoids, rectal bleeding, and complex abdominal wall hernias, including biological mesh reconstructions.

Dr Owen completed his General Surgical training in New South Wales before undertaking highly specialised post-fellowship training through the Colorectal Surgical Society of Australia and New Zealand Fellowship training programme. To further refine his surgical expertise, he spent time gaining advanced international experience in both Hong Kong and South Korea. Dr Owen holds a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery, and is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. He is an active member of the Colorectal Surgical Society of Australia and New Zealand and contributes to the education of future medical professionals as a Conjoint Lecturer at the University of New South Wales.
