Dr Tanous completed his undergraduate medical education, earning his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS). He subsequently undertook specialist training in Cardiology at a major tertiary referral hospital, followed by a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) from a prominent university in New South Wales. To further refine his expertise, he completed advanced fellowship training at a leading paediatric hospital and at the largest adult congenital heart disease centre in North America, where he sub-specialised in adult congenital heart diseases and cardiac diseases in pregnancy. He is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP), reflecting his high standards of clinical excellence and dedication to his field.
As an experienced Interventional Cardiologist, Dr Tanous performs a wide range of complex catheter-based interventions. His technical expertise includes transcatheter pulmonary valve replacements, pulmonary artery stenting, coarctation stenting, and other intricate structural procedures. He is highly skilled in performing structural interventions such as patent foramen ovale (PFO), atrial septal defect (ASD), patent ductus arteriosus (PDA), and ventricular septal defect (VSD) closures, as well as left atrial appendage closures. Additionally, he is actively involved in transcatheter aortic valve programmes, coronary interventions, and the multidisciplinary management of pulmonary hypertension and high-risk obstetric cardiac cases.
