Dr David Richard Cooke is a highly respected and dedicated General Practitioner who has committed his career to providing comprehensive healthcare to regional and rural communities. In addition to his core work in General Practice, Dr Cooke possesses a unique expertise in Aviation Medicine. He is one of the few General Practitioners in his region authorised to conduct Aviation Licence Medicals, combining his medical expertise with his personal passion for aviation. To ensure that healthcare remains accessible to those in isolated areas, he has historically flown his own aircraft to remote communities, demonstrating an extraordinary commitment to rural medicine and the well-being of underserved populations.

Dr Cooke obtained his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) and qualified as a Medical Practitioner in 1965. He holds prestigious fellowships with both the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP) and the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (FACRRM). In recognition of his outstanding contributions to both medicine and aviation, Dr Cooke was honoured with the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM), reflecting his lifelong dedication to his patients and the broader community.
