Dr David Mitchell

Dr David Mitchell is a highly regarded Orthopaedic Surgeon who is dedicated to providing exceptional, individualised patient care. With a strong focus on restoring mobility and improving quality of life, he specialises in a comprehensive range of hip and knee procedures. Dr Mitchell is particularly recognised as a leading proponent of rapid recovery surgery, utilising advanced techniques and local infiltration analgesia to significantly reduce post-operative pain, enhance mobility, and accelerate the recovery process for his patients.

His clinical practice is split between joint replacement surgery and complex knee interventions. Dr Mitchell's expertise encompasses total and partial knee replacements, hip replacements, and revision hip surgeries, including the management of peri-prosthetic infections. He is also highly skilled in performing arthroscopic knee surgeries, anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstructions, patellofemoral stabilisation, and realignment osteotomies. Beyond joint and knee reconstruction, his broader surgical capabilities extend to trauma management, neuromuscular surgery, and foot and ankle procedures.

Dr Mitchell completed his medical degree at the University of Melbourne, obtaining his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS). He undertook advanced training in orthopaedic surgery and was awarded his Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) in Orthopaedic Surgery in 1998. To further refine his expertise, he completed the prestigious Charnley Clinical Research Fellowship in England in 2000, focusing on advanced hip arthroplasty. Dr Mitchell is an active member of the Australian Knee Society and the Australian Orthopaedic Association, and he is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (GAICD).
