Dr Christopher Toumpas

Dr Christopher Toumpas is a dedicated and highly regarded Consultant Paediatrician who provides comprehensive, holistic medical care to children and their families. He is committed to delivering high-quality care using the most up-to-date clinical knowledge and expertise. Dr Toumpas supports patients across all stages of childhood, from preterm delivery and newborn babies through to infants, children, and adolescents up to eighteen years of age. His reassuring and attentive approach ensures that both young patients and their families feel supported throughout their healthcare journey.

With a broad range of clinical interests, Dr Toumpas specialises in both general and developmental paediatrics. He is highly experienced in managing acute medical conditions, including asthma, allergies, skin rashes, urinary tract infections, and gastrointestinal issues. Additionally, he has a strong focus on neonatology, newborn hearing, and congenital cytomegalovirus infections. Dr Toumpas is also deeply involved in medical research and education, contributing to the training of General Practitioners, training physicians, and other healthcare professionals.

Dr Toumpas completed his initial tertiary education at the University of Queensland, graduating with a Bachelor of Pharmacy in 1997. He went on to pursue his medical training at the same institution, qualifying with a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery in 2002. In 2012, he was admitted as a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians. Dr Toumpas holds several professional affiliations, including membership with the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine and the Neurodevelopmental and Behavioural Paediatric Society of Australasia. He has also served as a Senior Lecturer in Medicine at the University of Queensland.
