Dr Ashmita Desai

Dr Ashmita Desai is a highly qualified Obstetrician and Gynaecologist who is dedicated to providing patient-centred, evidence-based care. She advocates for a comprehensive approach to women's health, ensuring that each patient receives personalised and empathetic support. With a clinical focus on minimally invasive and pelvic floor surgery, Dr Desai is committed to empowering her patients to make informed choices regarding their reproductive and gynaecological health.

Her areas of clinical expertise encompass a broad range of gynaecological conditions and treatments. Dr Desai has a special interest in advanced laparoscopic and robotic surgery, particularly the excision of endometriosis and other complex gynaecological procedures. She also provides comprehensive care for abnormal uterine bleeding, menstrual problems, endometrial polyps, fibroids, ovarian cysts, and pelvic pain. Additionally, she manages contraception, menopause, postmenopausal bleeding, prolapse, urinary incontinence, and abnormal cervical screening, performing colposcopies when required.

Dr Desai completed her Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) and specialist postgraduate training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in India. Upon relocating to Australia, she completed her specialist training programme in New South Wales. She further advanced her expertise by completing a fellowship in gynaecological oncology and a fellowship in advanced gynaecologic endoscopic surgery, focusing on laparoscopic and robotic techniques. Dr Desai is a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (FRANZCOG) and holds a Diplomate of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (DRANZCOG). She also serves as a Training Supervisor for future Specialists in her field.
