Dr Ashley Seawright

Dr Ashley Seawright is a highly regarded General Ophthalmologist and Eye Surgeon who provides comprehensive medical and surgical eye care for both adults and children. Born and raised in Toowoomba, he is dedicated to delivering personalised, evidence-based treatment strategies to his local community. Dr Seawright combines his extensive clinical expertise with a patient-centred approach, ensuring clear communication and collaborative care with General Practitioners, Optometrists, and allied eye care professionals.

With a broad scope of practice, Dr Seawright specialises in the diagnosis, management, and surgical treatment of a wide range of ocular conditions. His clinical interests include advanced cataract assessment and surgical treatment, as well as the comprehensive diagnosis and management of glaucoma. He is also highly skilled in treating medical retinal conditions, such as age-related macular degeneration and diabetic eye disease, alongside managing pterygium, ocular surface disorders, and providing specialised eyelid and periocular surgical care.

Dr Seawright completed his initial medical education at the University of Queensland, graduating with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MB BS) in 1982. Following years of diverse medical practice as a Public Hospital Doctor and General Practitioner, he undertook specialist ophthalmic training through the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists' training programme in Brisbane, which he completed in 2000. He subsequently completed a fellowship year in Taunton, Somerset, in the United Kingdom. Dr Seawright is a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists (FRANZCO), reflecting his commitment to maintaining the highest standards of ophthalmic care.
