Dr Andrew Riddell

Dr Andrew Riddell is a highly qualified General Surgeon and Consultant Colorectal Surgeon based in Queensland, Australia. He provides comprehensive advice and management for all aspects of colorectal surgery and proctology. Known for his friendly and reassuring approach to patient care, Dr Riddell focuses on helping patients thoroughly understand their conditions. He believes in delivering evidence-based, individualised care to ensure that every patient feels as comfortable and supported as possible throughout their treatment journey.

Dr Riddell completed his Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery at Sheffield University Medical School in 2001. He then undertook basic and higher surgical training in South Wales and London. Dedicated to medical advancement, he spent time in medical research to obtain a research MD from Cardiff University. In 2016, he achieved his fellowship in general and colorectal surgery from the Royal College of Surgeons of England, before moving to Brisbane to complete a post-training fellowship in laparoscopic colorectal surgery. He is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, a member of the Association of Coloproctologists of Great Britain and Ireland, and a provisional member of the Colorectal Society of Australia and New Zealand.

As an accomplished laparoscopic and minimally invasive surgeon, Dr Riddell has a keen interest in the management of colorectal cancer, malignant polyps, and familial colorectal conditions. His clinical focus also extends to pelvic floor disorders, inflammatory bowel disease, and proctology, including the treatment of haemorrhoids, fissures, and fistulas. In addition to his clinical practice, Dr Riddell is a dedicated Senior Lecturer at the University of Queensland. In this academic role, he regularly supervises medical students and postgraduate research students, contributing to the advancement of surgical outcomes and patient care.
