Professor Anand Deva is a specialist plastic and reconstructive surgeon. He has been in practice for nearly 20 years and is the current program head in plastic and reconstructive surgery at Macquarie University. He is also a senior staff specialist at Sydney Hospital and former head of department at Liverpool Hospital.
Professor Deva's practise encompasses the full range of cosmetic, plastic, reconstructive, hand, and microsurgery procedures with a special interest in facial and breast cosmetic surgery. His contribution to breast implant safety has transformed practice throughout the world, and he has established a foundation for women to check their breast implants.
Professor Deva is regarded as a leader in the field and has published extensively on wound healing and surgical infection, particularly in relation to implanted medical devices. He has earned a number of accolades for his work in research and education, including the Luhr travelling fellowship and the Gordon Gordon Taylor Medal. Professor Deva has also been an advisor for both the government and biomedical firms, and he is regularly invited to speak at local and international conferences. His current research focuses on the improvement of the delivery of health care services, and he has been awarded an NSW state innovation grant to establish an integrated care program in South East Sydney.
