Dr Alison Cleary

Dr Alison Cleary is a dedicated and highly qualified Geriatrician who specialises in providing comprehensive medical care for older adults. With a compassionate and patient-centred approach, she focuses on the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases and conditions associated with ageing. Dr Cleary is committed to supporting her patients' independence and quality of life, working closely with families and carers to navigate the complexities of aged care.

Her clinical practice encompasses a broad range of geriatric services, with a particular interest in cognitive assessments and the management of complex psychiatric and behavioural care needs. Throughout her career, Dr Cleary has gained extensive experience across acute inpatient and rehabilitation settings. Her diverse clinical background also includes experience in palliative care, renal transplant services, haematology, and general rehabilitation, allowing her to deliver holistic and well-rounded care tailored to the unique needs of each individual.

Dr Cleary completed her Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery with Honours at the University of Tasmania, qualifying in 1999. She undertook her initial clinical training across several regional and metropolitan hospitals in Tasmania before relocating to Queensland, where she completed her specialist training as a Physician at major tertiary hospitals. Returning to Tasmania, she completed advanced training in specialist mental health services for older adults and was awarded her Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in 2010. She remains an active Fellow of the college.
