Exam season is here — and for many of my patients with ADHD, that means more than revision stress. It means lying awake at 2am. It means convincing themselves they will fail before they have even begun. It means walking into clinic carrying an anxiety that feels much bigger than any exam paper. I have sat with a number of these young people recently. Bright, creative, determined adolescents — who simply have not been shown how to prepare for exams in a way that works *with* their brain, not against it. The difference when they learn that there is a different way? It is remarkable to witness. Strategies like breaking revision into small, manageable chunks. Using timed study intervals with proper rest. Practising box breathing before walking into the exam hall. Using affirmations not as a platitude, but as a genuine tool for cognitive reframing. Knowing their rights around exam accommodations. These are not complicated interventions. They are evidence-informed, accessible — and they work. I have compiled them into a free guide: **ADHD & Exam Preparation — Your Guide to Exam Success**, written in plain language for adolescents, with strategies they can start using today. To every young person with ADHD heading into exam season: your brain is not the problem. The system just has not always known how to support it. That is changing. Parents, educators, and fellow clinicians — please share freely with anyone who might benefit. 📩 enquiries@vinodsingaravelu.com 🌐 www.VinodSingaravelu.com #ADHD #ExamAnxiety #Neurodiversity #ADHDteens #ChildPsychiatry #MentalHealthMatters #NeurodivergentLearners #ExamSeason #CAMHS #SENDsupport
