Dr Vanessa Potter

Dr Vanessa Potter is a Consultant Medical Oncologist who specialises in the diagnosis, management, and treatment of gastrointestinal cancers, with a primary focus on colorectal and colon malignancies. As a Lead Clinician for systemic anti-cancer therapy, she is dedicated to providing compassionate, patient-centred care supported by modern clinical practice. Dr Potter works closely within multidisciplinary teams to design tailored care plans that address each individual's unique needs.

Dr Potter completed her undergraduate medical education at the University of Birmingham, graduating with a Bachelor of Science and a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery in 1992. She advanced her academic and research background by obtaining a Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Nottingham. A Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians, Dr Potter contributes to professional governance as a Regional Specialty Advisor for the Royal College of Physicians and as Deputy Chair of a regional Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy Expert Advisory Group.

Her clinical interests extend to geriatric oncology, where she established a dedicated assessment clinic to support older patients diagnosed with bowel cancer. Dr Potter also serves as a Principal Investigator for clinical trials investigating novel targeted approaches in colon cancer, helping to bring progress in research directly into patient care. Her practice encompasses systemic therapies, personalised cancer care strategies, and comprehensive support across all stages of treatment.
