Professor Thomas Brown

Professor Thomas Brown is a highly experienced Consultant Respiratory Physician who provides specialist assessment, investigation, and management for patients with a wide range of breathing conditions. Since his appointment as a Consultant in 2015, he has focused heavily on improving equity and access to advanced respiratory treatments, leading his Trust's nationally commissioned Portsmouth Severe Asthma Centre and overseeing the introduction of life-changing biologic therapies.

In addition to his direct clinical practice, Professor Brown is a recognized leader in clinical trials and respiratory service transformation. He serves as Deputy Chief Research Officer at Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust, was appointed Honorary Professor of Respiratory Medicine at the University of Portsmouth in 2025, and leads a nationally recognized research programme focused on novel diagnostics and advanced therapies for asthma and COPD. Professor Brown is equally dedicated to medical education and the professional development of future clinicians across the region, holding dual leadership roles as the Respiratory Medicine Training Programme Director for the Wessex Region and Deputy Programme Director for the King's College London medical degree delivered in partnership with the University of Portsmouth.
